Unlike most starving artist of his day, Powers lived quite well, while working his way through the famous Chouinard Art Institute, (Now Called Cal Arts), in the motion picture business. After graduation, his Bohemian spirit proved too much for the Hollywood Star gazers and rather than expose the rest of the industry to his irresponsible flights of fantasy, he was quickly seized and buttoned-down tin the ad-lib world of advertising.
